For Pacific General - version 1.0, 1.1 and above
                         Modified by Steve Strayer

IMPORTANT:

These new files are NOT from SSI. I am an average gamer just like you,
who thought I could help improve the unit roster for Pacific General.
I seek neither fame nor credit, I just enjoy the satisfaction of
sharing this work with others! If for any reasons you have problems
with these files, please don't contact SSI, as it's not thier fault,
blame me! I'll be more than happy to answer anyone's questions about
this unit roster, but please don't bother SSI for the files I've
changed! My e-mail address is at the end of this read file.

This patch contains replacement files for two pre-existing files in
your Pacific General "data" subdirectory. Before installing the new
equipment list, make sure to back up your original pacequip.eqp and
pacequip.txt file, as this new equipment roster will replace them. If
you don't like what's been done with the new equipment, feel free to
reload your original files back into your data subdirectory!

GENERAL INFO & INSTALLATION:

After unzipping, This update contains the following files:

pacequip.eqp
pacequip.txt
report.txt
readme2.txt

To install, simply copy the two 'pacequip' files into your Pacific
General "data" subdirectory, and write over the pre-existing files
by the same name (you did back them up right?!?).

WARNING:
You may install this new file and immediately resume any saved game
you have in progress... however, many of your units may differ in
their statistics, as many units have been slightly modified. You have
been warned!

If this would annoy you, please finsish your current saved game before
using this new equipment list!

WHAT IS IN THE NEW EQUIPMENT ROSTER?

Alot!

I had been examining the unit roster and found many units either
missing or in error. People who use the Battle Generator will appreciate the new roster the most, and while changes to either American or Japanese land forces are mostly minimal, the Japanese have had thier tanks weakened to better reflect true history, and naval stats have also been significantly adjusted, so it is still a good idea to use this roster even for the original scenarios and campaigns!

Most of the changes are additions to missing units (mostly German) and
alot of availability dates have been moved up. Also many units have
been 'tweaked' in both combat abilities and prestige values.

NEW ADDED UNITS:

Most Anti-tank units have had their Air Defense values raised.
Most Japanese armor has been weakened, but costs also went down.
Most Russian armor has been strengthened with concurrent price raises.

IN CASE YOU'RE WONDERING:

I'm a big-time student of WWII history, and have been studying the
subject for more than 20 years. I have a large collection of WWII
referance material, and thought I could put it to good use on the
Pacific General unit roster. I find Pacific General to be a game with
a lot of great potential, and with it being the last in SSI's five-star
game series, I'm doing my best to contribute to making the Battle
Generator a great utility.

If you see anything in this roster that seems missing, or seems in
error, feel free to drop me some e-mail, and I'll see about adding it
into the roster, or fixing the stats. Alot of time went into working
this roster to it's current state, and we are talking about going over
well over a thousand units... it can be an eye-strain, so please
forgive me if I missed anything, and just let me know what you think!

CREDITS:

Of course a lot of credit to the folks at SSI for giving us this great
game, and to everyone on CompuServe and the internet who have given me
some idea inputs as to what to change or add to the roster.
