"PLAY FROM AGHEILA...2 SLOT"

Background:

The Alaska project is planned as a series of independent scenarios designed specifically for Cheyenne PBM competition. Each scenario is based on a hypothetical starting position with few (if any) units placed on the map. A large initial prestige allotment is provided to both sides with additional amounts allocated per turn for sustaining operations. The designer's intent is to establish a set of initial conditions which provide maximum flexibility for the construction of military forces and the formulation of battle strategy.

Initial conditions for scenarios typically feature two major powers (Germany or Italy against England, France, Russia or USA) supported by one or more minor powers (Hungary, Romania or Bulgaria against Norway, Poland, Belgium, Yugoslavia or Greece). As required, third party countries with no military units available such as Austria, Luxembourg and Portugal, will be allied to one or the other of the major powers and used to establish ownership over the surplus cities, ports and airfields. This method is design to ensure that every city, port and airfield has an allegiance to one of the major powers but is not necessarily capable of defending itself bythrough the purchase of military units.

Although these scenarios have not been designed with solitaire play as a priority, each of the scenarios will be designed to support solitaire play with the Axis side set as defensive and the Allied side as offensive. It is suggested that solitaire games be played with the AI side set to the aggressive setting (the red computer icon).

Panzequp File Changes:

A number of changes have been made to the Panzequp files specifically for the Alaska scenarios. A brief description of the changes is as follows:

* Movement for all "Towed" units has been reduces to zero. These units will require the purchase of an organic transport in order to become mobile.

* The minimum prestige cost for heavy weapons has been raised to four (48 total prestige).

* Range of interceptor fighter aircraft has been reduced.

* Range of bomber units has been doubled.

* Aircraft fuel load (including transport aircraft) is computed as Fuel = Range * 3.

* The firing range of the German 8.8mm ATG has been increased to 2.

* The firing range of forts and strongpoints has been increased.

The Panzequp file supplied with this scenario is the recommended equipment file, however, this file can be replaced by the standard equipment file or any of the enhanced equipment files available through the usual Panzer General net resource centers.

PBM Victory Conditions:

1) Victory is achieved by holding the most objective cities at the end of regulation play - or -
2) By capturing (and holding for one turn) all of the opponent's major country objective cities at any time prior to the end of regulation play (the major countries are Russia, US, Britain, France, Germany and Italy) - or -
3) By forcing the opponent to concede defeat prior to the end of regulation play.

Solitaire Victory Conditions:

The Cheyenne side must capture all of the enemy AI objective cities prior to the end of regulation play.
